See what you mean. Just been looking on Google images. There's also some YouTube videos by the look of it.
There's also the Bourton on the water football in the river, and countless other wet events to watch.
Most of these are done in sportswear, so there is no shortage of wet opportunities.
The use of footie kit on the beach is also quite widespread. I guess because it's nylon and easy to care for, quick drying, and easy to wear.
