I didn’t think of sharing this story back when it happened, but here I go now. Last year, at the end of August, I went to a youth weekend on some beautiful campgrounds in the Quebec countryside. With some other guys, we were there earlier (Wednesday late afternoon) as we were volunteers placing and setting up things before the start of the weekend on Friday afternoon.
The campgrounds are quite big, and are on the side of a large lake in the province of Quebec. After finishing the chores for the day, we decided to go to the lake. Some of my friends were in swimming trunks as they planned to swim, but I was still in my clothes because I personally didn’t want to swim at first (you already know what’s coming haha). I wasn’t the only one, as some of us just wanted to chill by the lake side. After walking up to the lake side, we took a trail that cut through the woods to go to a part of the lake that is kinda like a cove. There was also some kid of wooden platform floating roughly in the middle of this cove. Me and another guy arrived on the beach a bit before the others. As he was in his swim trunks, he entered the lake and swam away, as I just removed my sneakers and socks and waded a bit in shallow water.
Then, 2 of the other guys were finally arriving, and I heard one telling the other ‘’you have to run in and don’t turn back’’ (the water was a bit cold that day). As I heard that, I finally took my decision : I almost yelled ‘’OK !!’’ before running in fully clothed. I think it was my first (and only time yet) going fully clothed in water that deep. Felt awesome, and it was pretty fun.
As I’m usually a shy and introverted guy, I was surprised on how I handled the situation, and especially, on how the people around reacted too. They were surprised at first, but they quickly found it funny. I laughed and crack some jokes with them, it was cool. One of the other guys, a big sports guy, had a wetsuit, so I joked around and said that I had a new kind of wetsuit. Because yeah, I was wearing at the time a levis medium blue denim overalls (my favorite of the pairs I own) with a grey t-shirt. At some point, I swam to the wooden platform(it was a bit hard climbing on it with my damped veralls though haha) and did a big cannonball.  As no pics or vids were took, one of the lost pics was quite picturesque : I was sitting on the wooden platform in the lake, daydreaming, my legs dipping in the water, with the sunset in the background.
But yeah, it was an awesome moment, the only time I swam fully clothed in front of other people as of now. I’m going back there this year too in August, so you can be sure I’ll do it another time !
